Do your students go into competitions and shows? In Australia our students who are studying agriculture and horticulture enter into a lot of shows. We find it helps to motivate them. What do you find?
No, our students do not go into competitions or shows. I think that some of the students would be really motivated, but most of them don`t have the experience to enter a show. We have students at higher education in the same area, but in a different stable (at the university) they are competing.
Today is the day for the very big horse racing carnival in Wagga. Our students will be there to enjoy the day although it is raining. They will have the chance to speak to the jockeys and the grooms and then watch the very colourful races. In this way they get the chance to see all the things they have been learning about in theory put into practice. Some of our students who are studying to be veterinarians at the University will also be there in case the horses have any accidents or illnesses. Do your students attend shows or races?
Yes, I believe that al of the students attend to shows, either with friends or with our school. In their last year they are in charge for a big showjumping class for ponnies.
The racing carnival in Wagga sounds like a big show and it must really motivate the students.
